Landscape Architecture Intern

PLANT Design Group is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Landscape Architecture Intern to join our growing team. This opportunity is ideal for a current student or recent graduate in Landscape Architecture who is passionate about bridging design and construction in the field of outdoor living environments. The ideal candidate will have experience reading and interpreting landscape construction plans, understanding project specifications, and assisting with estimating and project preparation. This role offers hands-on exposure to real-world landscape and hardscape projects while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative, design-driven environment. This position will primarily support our estimating and operations teams through plan review, quantity takeoffs, site verification, and project coordination, with opportunities to contribute to conceptual landscape design as projects require. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Review and interpret landscape construction drawings, site plans, grading plans, and layout details • Assist with estimating landscape and hardscape projects from construction plans and specifications • Perform quantity takeoffs and material calculations 
  • Verify dimensions and field measurements against project plans and existing site conditions • Support proposal development and project preparation efforts 
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams throughout project planning • Assist with administrative and field-related project tasks 
  • Contribute to conceptual landscape design and planning when needed 
  • Help ensure project scopes and details are accurately communicated across teams

What We’re Looking For 

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Landscape Architecture 
  • Strong ability to read and interpret landscape construction plans and technical drawings • Understanding of estimating principles and quantity takeoffs 
  • Ability to verify field measurements and compare them to construction documents • Familiarity with landscape and hardscape materials preferred 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment • Professional attitude with strong attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license preferred 

Preferred Experience 

  • Prior internship, field, or office experience in landscape construction, hardscaping, design, or related industries 
  • Exposure to residential and/or commercial landscape projects 
  • Basic conceptual landscape design experience 
  • Familiarity with design and drafting software is a plus
